This afternoon the Board of Charlottenborg Foundation has met to discuss the exclusion of the Russian artist Sergei Prokofiev’s works. The Board has in unison decided to reinstall his works.

The Foundation wishes to communicate that the exclusion of Sergei Prokofiev’s works never has been motivated by artistic censorship, restricting freedom of speech or anything in that regard. It was solely a wish to join a national or global statement towards Russia.

As of today the Chair of the Board, John Kørner, has chosen to withdraw from his position and has not participated in the meeting. The new Chair of the Board is Peter Møller Rasmussen.

Sergei Prokofievs works can be viewed at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition from tomorrow 9 March and until 13 March 2022 at Kunsthal Charlottenborg.

The Foundation has no further comments on the matter.
