Concerning the works of Sergei Prokofiev

Late Tuesday afternoon, the Charlottenborg Foundation held a meeting of its board of directors to discuss the exclusion of the works of Russian artist Sergei Prokofiev. The board has unanimously decided to re-exhibit the work.

The Foundation wishes to communicate that the removal of Sergei Prokofiev's works has never been motivated by a desire for artistic censorship, curtailment of freedom of expression or the like, but solely by a desire to adhere to a common national or global statement towards Russia.

Forperson John Kørner has today chosen to resign from his position and has not attended the Board meeting. The new chairman is Peter Møller Rasmussen.

Sergei Prokofiev's works can once again be seen at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition from tomorrow 9 March until 13 March 2022 at Kunsthal Charlottenborg.

The Foundation has no further comment on the matter.
