Helsinki-based art historian and curator Kati Kivinen has been working as a curator for temporary exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art KIASMA since 2003. Here past exhibition projects in KIASMA include f. ex. the group exhibitions Thank You for the Music (2012) and First We Take Museums (2005) and solo exhibitions by such artists as Gunilla Klingberg (2004) and Heli Rekula (2005). For 2013 she's working on a solo exhibition by Finnish artist Mika Taanila.

Here freelance curatorial projects include f.ex. the touring exhibition Don't Worry – Be Curious! The 4th Ars Baltica Triennial of Photographic Art (together with Dorothee Bienert and Enrico Lunghi), 2007-2008, and Touching from a Distance at the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery in Cork, Ireland, 2002.

During the year 2010 Kivinen served as the Artistic Director of AV Archki, the Distribution Centre for Finnish Media Art. Before she has worked as coordinator for the Finnish Fund for Art Exchange FRAME in Helsinki.

In 2011 Kivinen was elected as one of the board members of the ICT – International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art board 2011-2014. She's also a consultant member for the board of the HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme.

Kivinen received her MA in Art History at the University of Helsinki in 2000 where she is currently completing her post-graduate studies (PhD). Here doctoral studies are a part of research in Finnish video art installations from the 1990s funded by Academy of Finland.
